About Ace von Alling

I’m Ace von Alling, a photographer based in northeast Nebraska. I’ve been shooting for 25+ years, starting in New York’s fashion industry before shifting focus to fine art figure work.
My current work combines studio photography with 3D rendering and digital painting to create images that look more like classical paintings than modern photography. The style borrows from Pre-Raphaelite and neoclassical traditions – romantic, dramatic, timeless.
Pieces have been exhibited in galleries and ended up in private collections. But honestly, what matters most is creating work that the models themselves are proud to be part of.
How I Work
Before any session, we meet in person if at all possible, or over video to make sure we’re both comfortable. No surprises, no pressure.
Sessions typically run 60-90 minutes. I’ll direct poses and expressions, but there’s always room to try things and see what works. Most shots are just reference material – only a few become finished pieces.
Everything about usage, privacy, and compensation is spelled out clearly in writing before we shoot. You’ll see and approve final images before anything goes public. If pieces sell, you get a cut of the proceeds.
What You Should Know
This is trade work (time for prints) – you get high-res copies of finished artwork, I keep exhibition and sales rights. When work sells, profit sharing is typically 20-30% depending on the piece.
You need to be comfortable with nudity on set, even if the final work isn’t nude. Wardrobe adjustments, reference shots, and the general flow of figure work means bodies are just part of the process.
I’ve worked with everyone from complete beginners to professional agency models. Experience doesn’t matter – comfort level and presence do.
